Ji Ni Chooi

DIRECTOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

Hi I am the Director Ji Ni and I have been at SCC for over 10 years and have loved getting to know each child individually in my time here. I first became Director at the end on 2019 and whilst my first year was full of challenges the centre and I hadn’t anticipated (see covid) I still feel as though the centre has managed to thrive these past two years most thanks to the staff, committee, children, community and importantly families.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

I first started at Subiaco Children’s Centre mid way through 2017. I have loved getting to know the kids here and all their personalities in my time here, I have especially enjoyed watching them become more confident in themselves and their abilities as they spend more time here. At the end of 2019 I took over as Assistant Director and have really enjoyed getting to do more behind the scenes stuff such as planning holiday programs.

QUALIFIED SUPERVISOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

I first started at the centre in 2018, but I also used to go when I was a kid myself! I believe this has been a great advantage for me as I can appreciated the special bonds formed between a child and eductor. I fully appreciated the opportunity to work with children and getting to know them through cooking, craft or physical activities.

ABOUT ME

I started at SCC way back in 2017. The highlight of my day is being given the opportunity to work alongside inspirational educators, whilst fully engaging with children, helping them to embrace their learning, achieve their goals and play with friends! At the beginning of 2020 I became a fully qualified educator and this ensures I can demonstrate the most informed and engaged version of myself everyday.

Jack Bardsley

PART-TIME EDUCATOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

I have been working at the Subiaco Children’s Centre since 2016 when I was in year 11. My highlight from working at the centre throughout the years is definitely seeing the children develop from young kindy’s or lower primary students into upper primary students and knowing I had some input into the person they turned out to be. This centre is full of amazing people and I feel extremely grateful to be a part of it for so long.

ABOUT ME

I have had the pleasure of joining the Subiaco Children’s Centre team since July of 2019. It is a rewarding experience to have every day different from the last and being able to learn from the children as well. I have since become a permanent part-time educator, which has allowed me to gain more experience, develop my skills and build stronger relationships with the educators and children.

PART-TIME EDUCATOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

I’ve been working at the centre since April 2019. In my time here at the centre, I’ve loved being able to work with the children through countless fun and educational activities.  I am currently completing a Marketing Psychology degree at UWA, and the Psychology aspect of this has taught me more about children, development and learning. I have also learnt a lot from the children and my days at the centre have pushed me to become a stronger role model for the future generation.

CASUAL EDUCATOR, FIRST AIDER

ABOUT ME

I’ve been working at the centre since February 2019 and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the children and staff working here. Some of my most memorable moments from working with the children are where I got the opportunity to spark their curiosity in a subject and see them develop their problem-solving skills, sometimes it is something as simple as figuring out a simple magic trick to solving tricky maths problems, it has been a terrific joy to see these kids develop.

CASUAL EDUCATOR

ABOUT ME

HiYa! I am Kathleen or Kat and I’ve been privileged to work at Subiaco Children’s Centre since November of 2020. I’m currently completing my 2nd year in outdoor educational studies, and the experience facilitating at Subiaco Children’s Centre has given me incredible insight into how experiential learning and outdoor play nurtures growth in children. Not only are the kids fun to be around, but their enthusiasm and curiosity fuels my passion for experiential education.

ABOUT ME

I’ve been working at the centre since 2016, however I spent 2 years in Singapore as part of my national service.  I love talking to the children and teaching them new things, regardless of what it is. Whether it’s about how the human body works, interesting facts about different animals, how to deal with a tricky math problem, or even how to play chess, being able to teach the children something new and watching them grow is probably my favourite part of working at the centre.
